Experiences

More than a café. A doorway into Kauman.

Six ways to spend an afternoon with us — from a quiet cup of coffee to making your own batik.

Coffee & Kitchen

Poffertjes, stroopwafel & the taste of Solo.

A short menu built on two heritages — Javanese warmth and a Dutch sweet tooth, served in a courtyard that has watched Kauman change for a century.

Our Story

A coffee house inside a living batik village.

Kooken was born in Kampung Batik Kauman, Solo — a neighbourhood of narrow lanes, century-old houses and families who have drawn batik for generations. We serve coffee, but what we really offer is a way in: to the craft, the streets and the people who keep them alive.
